SAINTS coach Ian Millward has once again stated that although he is happy at Saints he would like to coach in the NRL one day.

The Saints boss seems to be linked with every job that appears down under but he has stressed that he is happy at Knowsley Road.

He said: "If I serve one more year at Saints I will break Eric Ashton's record as the club's longest serving coach. I have been here five seasons although it does not seem that long.

"If Shaun McRae takes the job at South Sydney I will then be the longest serving coach in Super League.

"I am still young and I believe I am improving as a coach. I am really enjoying it here."

Millward was mindful that successful coaches in Super League are in the shop window when it comes to recruitment in Australia.

Currently coaching in the NRL are Matthew Elliot, Brian Smith, Stuart Raper and Graham Murray.

He said: "There are a lot of ex-Super League coaches over there. Some days I would like to see myself there and then some days I don't.

"It comes back to the right job, right opportunity and the right time.

"A lot depends on long term factors. Where this club is heading and what resources will be available?

"I would like to coach in Australia and test myself but the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

"I have already previously knocked back offers.

"I am sure there are top soccer coaches like Arsene Wenger and Sir Alex Ferguson who get offers to go elsewhere but they are happy in their environment.

"The game over here is really prospering at the moment and I have a contract. I will just keep with that.

"But winning creates a lot of attention and opportunities so we will just see what happens down the track."
