PYRAMID, Warrington's centre for the arts is vowing to fill the cultural quarter with Eastern delight when it hosts the town's annual two-day Culturefest.

Celebrating this year's Japanese theme through pastimes such as origami and ikebana, CFO4: Culturefest will bring Pyramid and Palmyra Square to life with fun for all the family.

Leading the event, on Saturday and Sunday, June 26 and 27, are the Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers who present a sensational show of expressive new music, bursting with energy and guaranteed to leave audiences stunned.

Other events will include mask making, calligraphy, traditional tea ceremonies, music, dance and Japanese story telling.

A range of professional exhibitions from artists such as Scott Baron, Haden Scott Baron and Colin Jack will be on view alongside artwork from local school children which will include stunning samurai costumes, masks, gigantic kites, kimonos and manga.

Sarah Birtwhistle, Pyramid and Parr Hall's marketing manager, said: "This year's Culturefest is going to be bigger and better than ever.

"We've built on the success of previous events and we have a fantastic line-up of activities which are sure to enchant young and old alike."

The festival is taking place at Pyramid and in Queens Gardens, Palmyra Square, Warrington and entry is free.
