A MOTHER who has not worked for nine years has set up her own business in Winsford and is confident she will be able to make it a success.

Jillian Boyd has opened Winsford Beds and Furnishing, on High Street, but she is disappointed that she did not receive more support.

She said: "I have not worked for nine years because I have been looking after my children but now I have this opportunity.

"It was disappointing how little support a mother like myself who is desperate to get back to work is given.

"I have received no financial support whatsoever even though I have asked for it.

"I got good advice from Business Link but they told me there was no money available."

Jillian is hoping her company will fill a niche in the market by targeting people in Winsford who cannot afford to spend a lot on furniture.

She said: "I sell the furniture as cheaply as I can. A lot of people need to be able to buy less expensive furniture because they don't have a lot of money to spend."

Jillian also hopes her business will be the first of many to set up in the High Street area of Winsford.

She said: "I looked at properties in the town centre but they were way out of my range - it was just ridiculous what they were charging.

"I want to bring back business to the High Street because it has excellent potential but is often neglected.

"I am renting this property off my friend Dave Robinson who is letting me have it for a cheap rent. If it wasn't for him there's no way this would have been possible."
