FOR the second week in succession the Moorfield side put in a tremendous effort, despite coming away without a point.
The game remained close throughout, Adam Quirke and Sam Brady made some excellent one off tackles to keep Newton to only a couple of scores in the first half.
In attack Matty Broderick and Adam Heyes both illustrated their pace and strength to punch major holes in the Newton defence.
Jack Armstrong was outstanding in both defence and attack.
Jack won all the major battles hands down to win the opposition man of the match.
Matthew Bannerman who also crossed the whitewash with a brave short-range effort and picked up the coach's award.
Patrick McMullin capped an impressive performance with some determined running, only to be stopped close to the line on a number of occasions.
Connor Fenlon typified the determination, picking up the top tackler award.
Breaking down the Newton defence was a stiff challenge for Moorfield, however Joe Lyons consistently made yards with some electrifying bursts from dummy half.
Man of the match went to Cavan Rice, who was a constant thorn in the Newton side and a brick wall in defence.
