Haydock U9s 20
Widnes Moorfield U9s 0
MOORFIELD were well beaten by the best side they have played this season.
Although they tackled fairly gamely, the home side punished Moorfield for any tackles they did miss, allowing them to build a comfortable 12-0 lead by half-time.
When Moorfield did have the ball they found it difficult to break down a stubborn well-organised defence and although they completed their sets of six they were unable to cross the opposition line.
In the second half, Moorfield put more pressure on the Haydock line but were unable to get a score and again a combination of good rugby and a couple of missed tackles allowed Haydock to increase their lead.
Matthew Barrow was man of the match for Moorfield for a sound defensive display and was well backed up by Jack Salter and the in-form Ryan Condron.
Tom Duggan also played well in the second half after coming on as a half-time substitute for his first outing of the season.
