ERIKSON hit the post twice in the opening five minutes then the home keeper denied Ellams and Ingham as Mond threatened.

Gary Lunt put Mond ahead in the eighth minute after a cross by Moore.

Helsby came more into the game until a second strike by Lunt after a superb run and cross by Linnett. Tony Erikson hit two goals in two minutes at the start of the second half.

Moore immediately took the opportunity of using all his subs and youngster Matt Johnson caught the eye with a couple of long-range strikes.

Helsby pulled one back from an indirect free kick but Mond were furious to concede a goal with a direct shot.

Four players were booked in the protest that followed but the ref allowed the goal to stand.

Paul Gumbs completed the scoring in the 84th minute with a header.

Next Saturday Mond travel to Pensby for a division two-league fixture, kick-off 3pm.

IT took a quality Ged Bushell free kick to break the deadlock.

Five minutes later Mond went 2-0 in front when Scott Howard forced in a ball from Droughton's flick header from Rickey Thompson cross. Mond continued to dominate but failed to convert their chances. Even an injury to Mick Garland failed to disrupt Mond.

Ian Lancaster put the game beyond the visitors after 54 minutes. Ged Bushell challenged for a cross and the ball broke to the edge of the box and the ball was driven into the top corner.

Lancaster got his second after 75 minutes before Burtonwood got a goal from a poor throw out from keeper Neil Percival. Mark Tudor who was unable to control the ball and Mark Dawson scored with ease.

Eddie Droughton got Mond's fifth volleying home from inside the six-yard box.

Mond Youth 3 Ring O'Bells 2

MOND'S youth team enjoyed a Runcorn FA Sunday cup victory against Frodsham based Ring O'Bells at Pavilions.

Following a goalless first half the visitors went ahead from the penalty spot.

Mond responded with three quick goals from John Dover, Steve Wagg and Robbie Search.

A late goal five minutes from time brought Ring O'Bells back into the game but Mond held on for a deserved victory. Cefn Druids Welsh player Mike Thompson has joined Mond as youth team coach.

Mike, a former Mond player before moving to the Welsh premier league, could still turn out in the Altrincham youth league but would need international clearance to do so.

Eddie Droughton and John Crompton have both passed their FA coaching course, this gives Mond eight qualified coaches.
