Ruskin Park 41 Halton RUFC 22

HALTON travelled to Ruskin Park from the league above and lost 41-22.

Against the run of play Ruskin were given a penalty. This was followed by good work from Halton's forwards to put them in a good position for McIntosh to score to make it 3-5.

Ruskin's fullback took a drop goal, followed by strong running from the kick off, which gave them a try and conversion, before they were awarded a penalty.

Halton then lost their fullback and regular kicker Mellor through injury. After some re-adjustment they gained some composure and good forward work put them in Ruskin's 20 metre. From solid work by the forwards, Paul Curphey broke free and scored in the corner.

Ruskin then scored a try to make it 10-21 approaching half time, Halton got good field position and from a well taken line out by Bibby the forwards drove 20 metres and Ste Curphey got good ball to score in the corner to make it 15-25 at half time. Watt missed a penalty, Paul Curphey had a try disallowed for double movement and Micky Kelly was unable to ground the ball from a Curphey kick through.

This was followed by two converted tries and two penalties by Ruskin and Halton's only reply in this half was a well-taken interception try by Gary Kelly, which was converted by Paul Curphey. This weekend Halton travel to Trentham in the league, kick-off 3pm.
