IT would appear that the people at our councils do not know the meaning of the word hypocritical.

We are being constantly bombarded with propaganda for waste incineration as we cannot cope with the quantity of refuse being produced, yet planning permission is being given for hundreds (possibly thousands) of houses to be built at Winnington, Rudheath and anywhere daylight can be seen.

If there is too much refuse to cope with now, why the hell are thousands of new houses being built and why was this not considered when the Kingsmead housing estate etc were built? This all adds thousands of bins to be emptied every week - sorry fortnight - into our already struggling waste infrastructure.

Recycling is a better option than being slowly turned into a carcinogenic shanty town.

How about introducing a levy on our partly-responsible mega-profitable supermarkets until they start introducing recyclable-friendly packaging such as paper carrier bags, fluid cartons (milk etc) and non-plastics.

Perhaps we should start to take notice of the way our French cousins object.

In the meantime if this (these) proposed incinerator(s) is/are built, would anyone in the Sandbach or Congleton areas like to do a house swap? That is unless anyone has a well-oiled guillotine to hand.
