TWO would-be robbers assaulted a man after he got out of a taxi in Festival Way, Runcorn.
The 28-year-old victim was beckoned over by two men who demanded money and jewellery from him, some time between 11.45pm and 12.30am on Saturday night.
One of them assaulted him, and attacked him again as he tried to run away, leaving the man with cuts and bruises and a cut over his right eye. He was treated overnight in hospital and has been released.
Police want to speak to a man seen driving past in a dark Astra, and a man who helped the victim to his feet.
They also want information about the attackers. The man who carried out the assault is around 6ft tall, wore a Nike style t-shirt, dark bottoms, had dark shaven hair and a skinny face and build.
The other man was around 5ft 8in, aged 20 to 25, with light brown hair cut to around number two, and of stocky build. He wore a dark blue hooded top and dark bottoms. Call Det Con Sven Talbot on 01244-613933 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
