RUNCORN FC Halton have sacked manager Chris Lightfoot and assistant Eddie Bishop after a string of poor results.
Despite winning their third home game on the trot last week, the 16th-placed Linnets have bowed out of both money-generating cup competions within the last four days.
A disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Stafford Rangers in the FA Cup third qualifying round was followed by a nerve-wracking 7-6 loss at Prescot Cables in the Liverpool Seniors Cup last night.
Under Lightfoot, Runcorn won promotion to the Conference North, and the club has thanked him and Bishop for their efforts.
Further announcements on their successor will be made soon.
