HEAVY congestion is expected to last all day in the Wilderspool area following an explosion at the Palantine Industrial Estate.
As a result of the ongoing incident in the area of Wilderspool Causeway, the Causeway between Brian Bevan Island and Gainsborough Avenue is currently closed southbound and a diversion has been introduced taking traffic down Chester Road, turning left onto Walton Road and onto London Road.
Northbound traffic is being allowed to use Wilderspool Causeway.
As traffic continues to build up, heavy congestion is expected around the area for the rest of day.
