VISITORS of all ages from the youngest to the oldest enthusiasts will enjoy Beatrix Potter's Garden at Liverpool Museum from October 23 to January 9.

The exhibition provides a unique insight into the life and works of this enchanting author, artist and naturalist, emphasising her love of the natural world.

Visitors will be able to explore Beatrix Potter's Victorian childhood and her life in the Lake District, then see how this influenced the charming characters she created.

Highlights of the exhibition include, more than 45 pieces of original artwork from the archives of the Victoria & Albert Museum, the National Trust and Frederick Warne, publishers of the Beatrix Potter books.

Other items on display include, a display of costumes from the Royal Ballet's Tales of Beatrix Potter, a pair of the clogs Beatrix Potter used to wear on her farm in the Lake District, a selection of insect specimens (bees, beetles, moths, butterflies) illustrating the type of still life Beatrix Potter would have used for her sketches and an interactive virtual tour through the Lake District demonstrating the influences the area had on her work.

Visitors can also enjoy special storytelling afternoons in the exhibition from October 25 to 29 during the half term week and on December 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19, 29 and 30.
