NANTWICH Town had to fight back three times to eventually claim a draw at struggling Salford City, last Saturday.

The Dabbers were soon trailing after Steve Jardine gave away a needless penalty but Danny Griggs popped up to level on 15 minutes.

Salford caught the defence short from a free kick to restore their advantage however on-loan striker Paul Rutter maintained his form to make it 2-2 at the break.

Lyons punished more sloppy defending to strike for the home side on 70 minutes but veteran Dabbers forward John Scarlett came off the bench to save a point.

Player manager Steve Davis admitted frailties at the back are causing concern.

"It was a stupid penalty to give away and the third goal was just a comedy of errors," he blasted.

"I'm disappointed with the goals we're conceding at the moment and all the other teams we've played in this league don't present the gifts we do.

"I suppose it's a point away from home but we should be beating sides like this."

Davis is also looking for more commitment from his squad.

"Certain players are not giving us enough commitment at the moment and it's something that we won't tolerate," he added.

"We can't have players letting us down at short notice, we need everybody fully focused on doing their best for this club."

The hunt is on for a left-back with former Crewe Alex star and long serving Dabber Mark Gardiner moving on.

"We've spoken to a lad from Stafford and we're hoping we get something through by Saturday," continued Davis.

"We need to try and do something and we've been in need of a left-back since Mark has gone."

Davis was happy with the successful return of John Scarlett, back for another spell with Nantwich.

"He's got tons of experience and hopefully he'll take some weight off the younger lads up front," he said.

"We'll take it game by game but we're happy to have him here."

It's derby day on Saturday as Nantwich entertain Congleton Town.
