A FUNDRAISING night held at Woolston British Legion will help to buy an electric wheelchair for one of its members.
Members of the legion rallied round to raise cash for former standard-bearer Colin Porter, from Paddington, who suffered a debilitating stroke in March.
Keen to help out their friend, members organised a charity night which raised a massive £2,000 for Colin, aged 66. Cash is still coming in and it is hoped the wheelchair can be bought in the near future.
Colin, a member of the legion for 30 years, said: "I think what they have done is terrific. We look after each other here and I'm very grateful to everyone who contributed to raising the money."
