A BRIGHT young engineer has been elected to a prestigious scholarship.
Oosema Haddad from Widnes has been chosen to be a Whitworth Scholar by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Oosema, 24, of Downside, went to Liverpool University where he gained a 1st class Hons in Mechanical Engineering. He now works as a piping and layout engineer with CB&I John Brown in London.
He said: "I am absolutely delighted to now be a scholar of such a prestigious engineering society, like Whitworth. It is a great honour."
Oosema will be presented with a medal and certificate at the ceremony at the IMechE headquarters at Birdcage Walk, Westminster, London.
This year there are 14 Whitworth Scholars.
Scholarships are awarded to committed students who have already completed degrees and are now working engineers.
