A CRACK house that terrorised a street has been shut down.

Neighbours in Crow Wood Place celebrated with champagne as the tenant agreed to move on before a police closure notice worked its way through the courts.

One neighbour said a lady living near the house lost patches of hair with the stress.

"She came round when the news come out with a bottle of champagne to say 'thank God we have got peace and quiet again'," said the neighbour.

A different female council tenant was evicted from the same address only last year, that time for holding drunken parties.

"What the council did is put somebody in who was supposed to be in rehab - but it turned out she had drug dealers coming round," said the neighbour.

"You could see anything up to six cars come round over the course of the day, and lots of money changing hands."

One male neighbour said he saw one of the crack house' visitors threaten a man with a hammer in front of some children.

He said: "You would politely ask them to move their cars and the next day you would find the tyres were let down or a window was smashed - but of course you couldn't prove anything.

"It was intimidating for a lot of the street because a lot of them are older people. You were frightened to walk out the door because you didn't know who you were going to bump into.

"I think everybody is relieved now. It will be a massive improvement in the quality of life."

But he laughed: "I will see what the council can give us next!"

Another neighbour looked at the boarded up house and said: "They should just leave it like that!"

A Cheshire police spokesperson said: "The resident allowed drug dealers to use her house to carry out their business.

"Both drug dealers and users have frequently attended the address and indulged in anti-social behaviour such as urinating in gardens, shouting at all times of the day and night, cars coming and going at al times and more.

"There has been an incident of serious disorder where a male was attacked by two others with hammers."
