WINSFORD youngster James Duxbury is well on his way to becoming the Michael Schumacher of mid Cheshire.

And while Duxbury, of Redshank Avenue, may not have the power of the famous German's Ferrari behind him, he is certainly no slouch in his junior TKM class kart.

The 15-year-old, who races at Manchester and Buxton Karting Club has recently claimed the junior TKM championship as well as the Gold Cup.

A feat made all the more remarkable as it is the second year running he has claimed both titles.

Something his dad thought would never happen.

He said: "I'm really proud and we couldn't believe it because he didn't compete in all the rounds of the club championship because he was racing in the British Championship at the same time.

"So to win it without scoring in three rounds is amazing."

He added: "We'd like to thank our sponsors WR Roberts and Son, D+R Fabrication, On Site Services and Heritage Roofing and Building Contractors for their support throughout the season as well as the mechanics and John Hoyle who helped with the setup of the kart."

To add to his title haul Duxbury finished fourth in the British Championship, earning himself a seeding for next season, and also claimed the club's winter league to underline his dominance of the sport.

Next season, the youngster, who has been competing since he was nine, is looking to take a step up and compete in the Senior TKM series.

He is also going to compete once more in the British Championship and will be looking to improve on his fourth place.
