NORTHWICH Victoria are facing a month of crucial matches, starting tonight, Wednesday.

Steve Burr's men host Tamworth tonight knowing that three points are vital if they are to continue the fight against relegation.

With all other Conference teams playing last night, Vics do at least have the advantage of knowing what they must do to stay in contention.

Then on Saturday comes the real test when fellow strugglers York City arrive at Wincham Park.

And Burr knows the points are vital.

He said: "We're playing teams around us and six points from the games would help us achieve the aim I set at the start of the season which is to avoid relegation.

"If we do that then we've done our job.

"However I don't mind if we manage it by January, February or Easter, but the longer we leave it the more difficult it is."

And Vics, looking to bounce back from Saturday's defeat at Woking, have welcomed back Greg Young from Grimsby for another month-long loan.

They have also announced the signings of former Altrincham midfielder and the young Barnton prospect Chris Gahgan.
