A CONCERNED resident is urging councillors to let there be light on a pathway near his home.

Gordon Farr says that he is still waiting for a faulty street light to be fixed six weeks after he reported the problem.

And Gordon, of The Loont, Winsford, says he is frustrated by Cheshire County Council's failure to repair the fault.

He said: "It is on a pathway leading to Swanlow Lane and it is absolutely pitch black down there at night.

"It is a major concern for me because a lot of people use the pathway and it isn't safe to walk down there in the dark.

"I was told that it was in hand and would be fixed but nothing seems to be getting done."

Gordon is worried that it may take a long time before the faulty light is repaired.

He said: "All street lights have identification numbers but for some reason this one has been omitted.

"It is worrying because if the council don't realise it exists, then it is unlikely they are going to fix it."

He is also frustrated that the council has not acted on his information despite asking the public for help in identifying faulty street lights.

He said: "They ask us for help and then when we give it to them they don't do anything about it.

"What more do we need to do? There is no limit to the number of excuses they come up with and it is very disappointing because we are doing our bit to help."

A spokeswoman for Cheshire County Council said: "We have spoken to Mr Farr and we apologise for the delay. The street light will be repaired as quickly as possible."
