be start of bid to transform field
A MEETING in the New Year will kick-start the first stage of redeveloping a muddy field in Davenham, according to the parish council.
Laburnum Road field was purchased by the parish council a few years ago with a view to turning it into a recreational facility for the young people in the village.
Since then, 30 volunteers have come forward who are committed to making the project a success, but the process of setting up a management committee was put on hold while technical difficulties were ironed out by members of the parish council.
Now they feel that a meeting of the volunteers as soon as possible will get the scheme going once more.
At November's parish council meeting, Clr Brian Robinson said: "At the last parish council meeting things stalled completely.
"By not doing anything in the meeting, the procedure was stopped in its tracks.
"We need a clear meeting of volunteers as soon as we can after the new year."
It was agreed that they should try to set up a management committee in January.
They could devise an action plan for the project and explore different ideas.
