Sharon Gaunt, owner of Body Maintenance on Winnington Lane in Winnington, believes a lot of people in the area will benefit from her company.

She said: "A lot of older women don't want to go to an ordinary gym for a number of reasons.

"They don't want to just walk into a gym full of other people because they wouldn't feel comfortable and then it is unlikely they will get any benefit from it.

"Research shows that people don't get enough exercise and that may be because they don't like the gym and not the exercise itself.

"By providing a private session in the gym people can relax and actually enjoy the experience."

Sharon set up the business, based at the Fit For Life gym, after deciding she wanted a change of direction.

She said: "It has been a complete change for me as I used to be a lipreading teacher.

"Two years ago I decided I wanted a change of direction and after conducting a lot of research I realised there was a great need for this kind of service.

"I studied a course in sports therapy and personal training at Mid-Cheshire College and it was a great help. I was also given the student of the year award.

"It wasn't easy to make the decision to change career, but as long as you look into your new career thoroughly, it is likely to be a success."
