MP Mike Hall says the £100 extra that many over 70s in Vale Royal will receive this year is well deserved.
Millions of people are getting the additional cash on top of their winter fuel payment this year to help with living expenses including Council Tax.
Mike Hall said: "People who have worked hard all their lives deserve every penny they get. And we should do all we can to help the over 70s - the generation that fought the war and to whom we owe so much.
"My message to all pensioners is to make sure you claim what you're entitled to as it could mean saving hundreds of pounds, not only this year but every year for the rest of your life.
"Millions of pensioners automatically get the winter fuel payment, but they must also make sure they claim Council Tax Benefit.
"Up to four out of 10 pensioners miss out on an average £426 cut to their Council Tax bills."
