THE John Blower Fund is set to receive a £20,000 boost from Warrington Rugby Club on Saturday to mark the 12 months since the rugby player was paralysed in a failed scrum.
Warrington will be playing Northwich at Moss Farm in a crucial fixture made all the more poignant because it was during this fixture last year, at Warrington, where John sustained the injury.
He will be present at the match along with MP Mike Hall, club president John Cosgrove, Cheshire Rugby Football Union officials and many past and present Northwich players.
The cheque will be presented to the fund, which has raised £145,000 so far and is well on the way to surpassing its target of £150,000, in the clubhouse at 1.30pm.
A fundraising evening for the John Blower Fund will also be held at the Gladstone Club in Northwich on Saturday, complete with live music, a disco and a raffle of sports memorabilia.
Tickets are still available. For more , contact Sheila on 01606 75894.
