PADGATE Gymnastics Club excelled at the Cheshire and Merseyside County Championships

The girls improved on previous performances in the county this year and brought home six of the nine titles on offer.

Anna Stubbs' achievement particularly stood out, for being crowned overall champion in the level four elite age group.

And over 13 intermediate overall champion Laura Murphy impressed as she was the golden girl on each of the floor, vault, beam and bars.

Additionally, two trophies were won for achieving the highest scores in the novice and intermediate sections.

They were scooped by under 10s novice overall champion Katy Johnson and under 13s intermediate overall champion Kelly Burrows.

Padgate's other crowned gymnasts were Sophie Sewell, under eights novice and Emma Silvester, under 12s novice.

The other achievers were, at under eights novice level, Bethany Lambert, who was second overall and the beam champion; Georgina Scott, who clinched ninth overall and Becky Reynolds, who reached 14th overall.

At under 10s novice level, Esme Littlefair was second overall, Emma Steele finished sixth overall and second on the bars, Charlotte Wrigley came eighth, Charlotte Whittle placed ninth, Clodagh Deven Taylor claimed 11th, Jenny Matthews secured 18th and Holly Hackett was 28th.

In the over 12s novice competition, Kate Walker was third overall and Steph Southworth fifth overall.

Sophie Akinyemi was second overall but won gold on the bars and floor in the under 11s intermediate category.

The under 13s intermediate event featured Lynsey Matthews at third overall, Beth Roberts at fourth overall and first on the beam plus Gemma Benns, who came seventh overall.
