JONATHAN Gatley was the star of the show when Warriors of Warrington attended swimming's Northern Counties Long Course Championship in Manchester.

Warriors were competing against the best swimmers from across the north of England and Jonathan led the medal haul.

He won gold in both the men's open and 16-year and under 400m individual medley, bronze in the men's open 400m freestyle, second in the 16-year and under 400m freestyle and third in both the 16-year and under 200m individual medley and 200m freestyle.

Jonathan also excelled himself by achieving four national qualifying times in the 16-year age group for the 2005 Amateur Swimming Association National Youth Championship.

Other Warriors medallists were Amy Pegnam, two bronze, and Andrew Bushell, one bronze.

Amy's times also gave her third place in the girls' 16-year and under 100m and 200m breaststroke, and Andrew was third in the boys' junior 16-year and under 50m fly and freestyle.

Helen Robinson was Warriors' other finalist, finishing sixth in the women's open 50m breaststroke.
