Bowdon 22

LYMM'S victory over Bowdon has moved them up to eighth position in the North Two West League.

They can accumulate more points when they travel to play fifth-placed Fleetwood on Saturday before the final game of the year at home to basement club Aspull on December 18.

It looked like a familiar script was being used by Lymm on Saturday - the one where they dominate the game, have a comfortable lead and then allow the opposition to catch up and win - but this time Lymm added a final chapter.

Shaw converted a penalty to put Lymm 23-22 in the lead.

With minutes to go, Paul Thatcher put in a delicate chip over the visitors' try line and wing David Williamson pounced for his second try.

Team: Paul Thatcher, Chris Woolley, Paul Morris (Paul Maguire 20mins), Adam Fletcher, Dave Williamson, Nick Shaw, Lewis Hollington, Keith Broadbent (Dave Read 70mins), Luke Worsley, James Fergusson, Simon Walter, Rob Calderbank, Tom Mann (John Millington 50mins), Andy Williamson, Mark Sutton.

Lymm RFC have paid tribute to their secretary Malcolm Blinkhorn, who died on Saturday. A club statement said: "Malcolm was a dedicated and popular member and we send our condolences to his family. He will be greatly missed by all of his friends at Lymm RFC."
