WARRINGTON Town manager Glenn Walker heaped praise upon his on fire troops following Tuesday's 1-0 win against Mossley.

Town moved nine points clear of the UniBond League first division relegation zone with what Walker described as their 'best home performance of the season'.

They have now lost only one league game in eight outings and Walker says that the upturn in form is down to hard graft and growing confidence.

He said: "We lacked self belief at the start of the season but confidence is much higher now.

"I've always known that we are good enough for this division and now we are starting to prove it."

Town should have scored a hatful of goals on Tuesday. They dominated proceedings but Graeme Mitchell scored the only goal of the game, heading home Chris Bermingham's cross in the closing stages of the first half to continue his hot streak of strikes.

He has now scored in three consecutive matches.

Town: Colin Flood, Matty Farrell, Danny Salt, Iain Dyson, Lee Webster, Adrian Reilly, Lee Smith, Steve Latham, Mike Heverin, Graeme Mitchell, Chris Bermingham. Sub used: Phil Mitchell.

WARRINGTON Town produced a stirring recovery to win their first of two successive Saturday meetings with Kidsgrove Athletic.

They showed few signs of finding the target before conjuring up two goals in the closing 12 minutes.

Leading goal scorer Mike Heverin sparked off the fight back, reaching double figures for the season with an impressive strike.

He latched on to a poor back pass by Andy Thomas and unleashed a low angled shot into the far corner of Kidsgrove's net.

Warrington then laid siege on Kidsgrove' goal and Heverin was denied a second when his rising drive from 20 yards out was superbly tipped over by goalkeeper Heeps.

From the resulting Bermingham corner, Graeme Mitchell netted from point blank range following a goalmouth melee.

Warrington's defence performed resiliently throughout the league match with Adrian Reilly and skipper Danny Salt both outstanding.

But they were caught out midway through the first half when at least three Town defenders failed to intercept a dipping cross by Paul Buckley. It reached Matt Rhead at the far post and he nodded Kidsgrove into the lead.

Winger Darren Canning, Town's new signing from Mid-Cheshire League side Daten, made his debut as a late substitute.

Town: Colin Flood, Lee Smith, Danny Salt, Terry Nestor (Iain Dyson, 74mins), Adrian Reilly, Paul Clarke, Dave Tickle, Steve Latham, Mike Heverin, Graeme Mitchell (Darren Canning, 86mins), Chris Bermingham. Sub not used: Chris Burke.

Town play Kidsgrove again on Saturday, kick-off 3pm at Cantilever Park. They have no midweek game.
