FEARNHEAD finally registered their first win of the Warrington Soccer League season on Saturday and may have derailed Vulcan's title hopes in the process.

The Frontrunner Premier Division's bottom side endured a thorough examination by second-placed Vulcan but rallied from a goal down and won thanks to late goals by debut teenager Bradbury and Brough.

Moore United enjoyed a rare 2-1 win at champions St Michaels to dent their ambitions of retaining the title.

There was a great deal of Grange Valley first division 'derby' tension at Birchwood where Monk Sports snatched an early advantage after only five minutes.

Silver Birch pulled level through Wayne Berry and then took a 3-1 lead when Halton and Frith tested Monk's rearguard. Monk shaded the second half action and earned a share of the points courtesy of two free kicks.

The second division's leading scorers, Orford, were ambushed at home by yo-yo club Windle LC despite usual suspects Gary and Tony Darbyshire each finding the net. Orford shipped goals to lose 6-3.

Matthiola took the 'derby' honours in their showdown with Lomax CC. Mark Rampley hit two, Dave Murray converted a penalty and Osman Amhed sealed a useful debut with a late headed goal to make it 4-2.

The top match in Division Three pitted leaders Runcorn Athletic with form side Eagle Sports. Athletic snatched a 3-2 win and remain ahead of the chasing pack.

Fife Rangers returned to winning ways against Winwick United. The win was secured thanks to defender Chris Lester's first goal for the side and a penalty save by Ryan Doodson.
