NANTWICH Town returned to winning ways with a solid 2-0 victory over Salford City.

Glyn Blackhurst and Danny Griggs grabbed a goal in each half to steer the Dabbers to their first win in four attempts, last Saturday.

A fine individual effort from the on-loan Stafford Rangers midfielder got things underway on 20 minutes.

Blackhurst started the move deep and burst forward to finish it, finding the gap before slotting the ball home to cap a great start.

Salford's best chance of a comeback faltered when a second-half penalty struck the post and Griggs wrapped it up, cutting in from the left and finding the bottom righthand corner on 82 minutes.

Player manager Steve Davis was pleased with the three points that move Nantwich up to 14th.

"We needed to bounce back after losing two tough away games," he said.

"We played OK although I'm more pleased about the result.

"On our overall play we deserved the three points and I'm pleased we kept a clean sheet."

Davis is still determined to add to his squad while blooding new youngsters from within. Richard Iglmann, 16, made his debut against Salford, following Adam Newton last month.

"I'm looking to bring in a centrehalf," explained Davis.

"We still want to add those players who can come in and make a difference while the youngsters are pushing through.

"Richard did well on Saturday and we're trying to get some of the youth team involved to give them a taste of the first team without putting too much pressure on their shoulders."

Nantwich entertain Squires Gate on Saturday and travel to fourthplaced Colne on Tuesday.

"Squires Gate have picked up a couple of good results lately and they're a direct side so we'll have to cope with that and then let our football come through," continued Davis.

"Colne are a good side and I said after we drew 2-2 here that they would be up there.

"That will be a tough game but we're looking forward to it."
