A REVIEW has started at the Town Hall to examine how the council reacted to January’s snow chaos.
A group of five councillors are looking at the fall out from the extreme weather and are set to reveal their findings next month.
Most schools in the borough closed, bins weren’t collected and now pot holes have appeared on most of the major routes of the town.
And the letters page of the Warrington Guardian and online at warringtonguardian.co.uk have been filled with complaints from residents saying the council did not do enough to combat the poor weather.
Council leader Clr Ian Marks says the review will be completed as soon as possible.
He added: “We will take everything into account on this.
“We need to learn from what happened - the good and the bad - and react from it in a positive way.
“This will be wide ranging and will cover everything that went on.”
It is understood that the councillors, from all political parties, will be given scope to examine everything from levels of grit and grit boxes to school closures, bin collections, flooding that happened in the thaw and public transfers.
“We will be looking at everything so that lessons can be learned”, said Clr Marks.
The task group met this week and will be led by Clr Alan Litton, executive member for environment.
A public report is expected to be delivered to a meeting of the full council at the end of March.
