A STUDENT from Sankey Bridges has received a special vice chancellor’s award worth £10,000 per academic year.

Charlotte Sant, aged 18, of Bond Close, achieved a triple distinction in her BTEC sport and exercise science course at Priestley College this summer and has since begun teacher training in primary and secondary education at Liverpool John Moores University.

Charlotte, pictured, was one of only 15 students to be accepted on the course and secured two financial awards to support her in becoming a PE teacher.

Having been successfully awarded £1,000 per year as part of Dream Plan Achievers initiative, she proved her talents academically and through numerous community based volunteering roles resulting in her being chosen for the award. Charlotte said: “At Priestley I took part in lots of volunteering opportunities in the community including Millennium Volunteers and the Wolves Foundation, which coupled with my results, more than helped me achieve these awards.

“I’d like to thank the staff at Priestley for their support, it’s highly unlikely that without them I would have applied for such awards or got this far in the process. I’m now looking forward to chasing my dreams.”
