IT has been years in the pipeline and now work to refurbish Clough Avenue park is nearing completion.
Pupils at Meadowside Community Primary School, Orford, have taken control of the section of the park that neighbours their school, planting bulbs and trees to form eco flower beds and creating a nature reserve.
The project is being funded by the Northwest Development Agency, Golden Gates Housing, the Coalfields Initiative and Waste Recycling Environmental Ltd.
It is being managed by Groundwork Merseyside but run by the Longford Residents’ Association, which is now preparing to formally reopen the park.
