PIERPOINTS’ winning run in the North West Premier Bowls League was stopped by a South Manchester British Legion side that included two of Warrington’s star players Carl Armitage and Tommy Johnstone.
Armitage put Pierpoints under pressure from the start with a 21-9 win, while Johnstone also won comfortably.
Pierpoints had two early winning cards from Charlie Bebbington and Jason Lockett but they lost the next six games to end their recent run of wins.
