CARNIVAL goers will have an extra reason to celebrate this Saturday as Glazebury Gala marks its 80th anniversary.
The gala started in 1928 and has been a tradition in the village ever since.
Jeff Chambers, who helps organise the event, said: “The gala has been an important day in the Glazebury calendar for such a long time and so many people have got involved in it.
“We’re very pleased to reach an 80th anniversary and want to carry on into the future.
“It is important for community life and important for the church in terms of fundraising.”
Retiring queen Kate Roddy will hand over her crown to new gala queen Kate Leather at All Saints Church on Warrington Road at 2pm.
