YOUNGSTERS have been cheated of their slide at Mapplewood Crescent in Great Sankey after vandals set fire to it on Sunday.
It is believed petrol was poured over the slide before it was set alight.
Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened at 5.45pm.
Inspector Brian Heywood of Warrington West NPU said: “This is the typical sort of vandalism that happens to council equipment periodically but it is the youngsters who lose out as there isn’t the money for the equipment to keep being replaced.”
