LATCHFORD LATCHFORD will come alive with the sound of music tomorrow, Friday, as pupils take to the stage to celebrate their high school’s new status.

Sir Thomas Boteler CE High School was awarded a specialist status in music and English earlier this year and to commemorate its success is holding a festival of music and words.

Pupils from years seven to 10 will be taking part in music, dance poetry and writing workshops throughout the afternoon.

But the main event is a ‘big gig’ featuring an eclectic mix of music by young people at the school, starting at 3pm on the big stage. The line up includes bands, singers and dance groups from the high school, nearby primary schools, Priestley College and the Latchford community.

Preparations have been under way for months and have included a visit from the Urban Strides dance workshop to inspire new dance routines.

Top of the bill for the night will be one not to miss as John Sharples, the school’s head teacher, will be on stage with his band De Capo Dance.

The event is free and the whole community is invited to attend. The first acts will be on stage at 3pm at the school on Grammar School Road
