CALLOUS thieves have stolen a 15ft bouncy castle from the back garden of a disabled child after he celebrated his first birthday.

Sarah Claffey, of Holford Avenue, in Bewsey, was distraught when she realised the giant inflatable had been stolen from their garden a couple of days after her son Sam and his twin sister, Chloe, had celebrated their birthday on Sunday.

Sarah, a 36-year-old housemum, said: “It had been wrapped up ready to take back to my uncle whom we had borrowed it from.

“It is really heavy and takes between three and four people to lift but thieves must have got it through the back gate.

“The twins and their three-year-old brother Oliver are all really upset.

“I can’t believe that people would take this off a little disabled boy. It is really upsetting.”

Sam cheated death when he was eight weeks old after contracting meningitis.

He was left with fluid on the brain, and he is also deaf, visually impaired and severely physically disabled.

Sarah said: “I feel gutted. All the children were enjoying it on the twins’ birthday a couple of days before.

“At the end of the day they have taken it off a baby.

“It’s not fair.”

The bouncy castle, which was stolen in the early hours of last Wednesday, is multi-coloured and has a clown on the front sticking out his tongue.

Anyone with information about the theft or who might have been approached by someone attempting to sell the bouncy castle should contact police on 0845 458 0000.
