A WARRINGTON school has announced that due to insufficient learning space, there will be no reception class in the next school year.

Fox Wood Special School, based in Woolston, made the announcement on its website this week stating that ‘Fox Wood School will not be opening a Reception Class for September 2024’.

The Holes Lane school caters to children with special educational needs, with the age of pupils who attend ranging from four to 19 years old.

Highlighting the issues resulting in no places being open for a reception class in the coming school year, a statement provided by Fox Wood said: “This is because we do not currently have sufficient space to create an appropriate learning environment.

“We continue to work closely with our colleagues in the Local Authority, and in many schools across Warrington, and we know that lots of work is being undertaken to secure the best possible placements for all children in Warrington.”
