POWERFUL, breathtaking, and touching are just a few words used to describe The World of Hans Zimmer – A New Dimension.

The spring tour, which has just a few tickets remaining for more than 30 dates in 13 countries, came to Manchester last night and it didn’t disappoint.

Throughout the show, the audience is taken on a musical journey featuring some of the composer’s countless cinematic blockbusters, including Dune, James Bond – No Time to Die, The Lion King, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Interstellar, among others.

While two-time Academy Award winner Zimmer himself isn’t there, he participates as the show’s curator and musical director and regularly appears on a huge screen to chat to the audience and talk them through a number of pieces, explaining the story behind them.

Captivating would be the perfect word to describe the show thanks to the incredibly talented orchestra and singers, the set, the lighting, and the multimedia experience which saw stunning visual projections of film sequences played alongside with music

It was clear to see each member of the audience was completely engrossed in the performance. And a thoroughly deserved standing ovation at the end of the evening only showed this further.

A highlight of the evening for me was the eagerly awaited final score from Pirates of the Caribbean which was full of energy and passion from each and every performer involved.

Seeing a classic childhood film come to life before my eyes was also a highlight, with performances from The Lion King soundtrack causing a few watery eyes around the room.

No matter what genre of music you like, The World of Hans Zimmer – A New Dimension offers something for everyone.
