A RADIO show that is hosted by children in Lymm has been nominated for an award at a national radio award ceremony.

Kids Live at Five is a one-hour weekly programme on Cheshire’s Mix 56 and is hosted by children from Warrington.

The programme aims to inspire, educate, entertain, and involve children with different topics and themes.

Now, the show has been nominated for the Grassroots award at the Radio Academy ARIA awards.

“I am beyond proud of our young radio stars,” said Helen Nelson, Kids Live at 5 producer.

“Week after week they produce fabulous audios, with great local content – they are really growing in confidence and sound brilliant.”

Kids Live at Five started in April 2020 following the national lockdown, and now airs every Sunday at 5pm.

The children hosting the programme have interviewed a variety of big names such as Andy Carter, MP for Warrington South, and Lucy Frazer, Minister for Culture.

The show recently held its own award show for children in Cheshire, and hosted a special award show where all the nominees were invited to come to the studio and receive their award.

Since Kids Live at Five started, more than 100 children between the ages of three and 16 have been involved in the programme.

The ARIA’s will take place on Tuesday, May 7, and will be hosted by Alice Levine and Romesh Ranganathan.

You can listen to Kids Live at Five every Sunday at 5pm on Cheshire’s Mix 56 or online.
