STUDENTS at a Warrington college studying beauty have been told their course will be discontinued due to the closure of a department.

Warrington and Vale Royal College has confirmed a ‘difficult’ decision has been made to no longer continue beauty courses delivered at the setting.

Letters have been sent home to students currently studying the beauty course to inform them that as of September, they will no longer be able to practice the subject at Warrington and Vale Royal College.

A spokesman for the college said: “The college has taken the difficult decision to discontinue beauty therapy courses, while continuing with hairdressing.

“Decisions of this nature are taken in the course of the college’s curriculum planning cycle.

“They are based on a number of salient factors and are never taken lightly.”

Students currently studying beauty are now having to make the difficult decision between choosing a new direction of study and remaining at the college or finding a new college to study the course at.

“While a number of students have chosen to stay at the college studying alternative courses, the college is working with others to ensure they are supported to transition successfully onto beauty therapy courses at other local colleges and training providers, of which there are many,” the spokesman added.
