A WARRINGTON primary school has been recognised as one of the highest achieving schools in the country.

Head of Grappenhall Heys Primary, Kelly Jackson, received a letter from the Minister of State Damian Hinds who delivered the exciting news.

In his letter addressed to Ms Jackson he congratulated the school for being in the ‘top 2 per cent of primary schools in the country’ that had 90 per cent of pupils exceed the expected standard in reading, writing and maths.

Mr Hinds said: “I would like to congratulate you, your staff and your pupils on the very high standard of achievement demonstrated in the reading, writing and mathematics Key Stage 2 assessment last year.”

Confirming the school’s high results which were first published on December 14 last year, he added: “This means that for achievement in reading, writing and mathematics, Grappenhall Heys Community Primary School is in the top 2 per cent of primary schools in the country.”
