A WARRINGTON band will perform their first live show in the town at one of its most iconic venues.

St Oswald’s Church, Winwick, has been chosen by Gustaffson as the venue for a one-night special acoustic gig in June. The performance will help to raise funds for the church.

The event has a strong local connection for the group’s lead singer, Andrew Gower, as he is a former student at Great Sankey High school, Warrington.

At present the band is fresh out of a Manchester studio from recording their debut album which has been produced by award winning band, Elbow. The album will be released in late 2024 and features Grammy winning composer, Bear McCreary.

Their debut LP The Jacaranda was released in August 2022.The title track and music video starring legendary actor, Sue Johnston (OBE), premiered on Channel 4’s Sunday brunch.

Gustaffson filmed their latest live video of a new release Flowers at St Oswald’s church in November last year. It was a perfect backdrop for the track and they were delighted to show off the impressive church acoustics. Andrew formed Gustaffson in 2020 with a lifelong friend and guitarist, James Webster. James and the band’s drummer, Graham Bennett, are also Warrington musicians. Liam Morrison on keys and David Gleave, bass player, make up the group.

Andrew has worked as an actor in TV, film and theatre for the past 15 years. He trained at the Oxford school of Drama and has starred in hit shows such as Black Mirror, Outlander and Carnival Row. He recently appeared on screen in ITV’s historic and exciting drama The Winter King as a series regular Sansum. Andrew is filming in Northern Ireland in a new Channel 5 drama, Ellis.

Asked about the June event, Andrew said: "This will be a really special night as it is our first gig in Warrington in the wonderful setting of St. Oswald’s Church. What an incredible venue to play music in. We are delighted to have been invited back after filming our latest video Flowers in the church last November. Come on down and see us.”

Warrington radio host and singer, Eve Jean, will also be performing at the event.
