Has it always been in the same location?

The Heavenly Touch began its journey in September 2015 and enjoyed a successful mobile business serving in and around the Warrington area before taking the next step in my business journey. My client list had grown considerably so I rented a room in a local beauty salon where I stayed for a year. From here, I began the search for somewhere that would complement the treatments I offer while promoting the wellbeing of my clients. As if by fate, I found Cheshire Beauty and Wellbeing. Based on a farm it has truly been a gift, surrounded by fields - it just takes you away. I have been here for five years now.

Are you local to the area? Did you grow up here?

I have spent most of my life in Warrington. I moved away for a few years in my 20s but returned in 2009 when I met my husband. I have lived in numerous areas around Warrington but have settled in Callands. We enjoy being close to all the local walking areas.

Tell me a bit about your salon/business

I have been a foster carer for the local authority since 2010 and decided it was time to find something I enjoyed doing. I attended my local college completing a Level 2 beauty course, Level 3 massage course and completed many different courses before setting up as mobile. My business name was chosen by our three children and three foster children who decided to name it after our youngest daughter Heavenly who was born in 2011 - so The Heavenly Touch was born.

I have visited many salons and spas over the years and rarely come away satisfied so decided that I would build my little business around exactly that – the client experience. As our family has grown, so has my little business. As our children have grown and flown the nest it has been a natural progression, investing more of myself and my time into The Heavenly Touch.

What do you do?

I make sure that every single visit is one to remember. My motto is ‘It’s not just a treatment - it’s an experience’ and I have spent many years living up to this - ensuring that every client has the service they deserve. Making time for my clients is so important to me.

What services do you provide?

I offer a full range of treatments, several different massages and spa treatments, luxury facials, waxing and intimate services, as well as a full range of lash services including lifts and extensions. I also specialise in skin treatments helping clients with skin health and issues with treatments such as skin peels, micro-needling, dermabrasion, derma-planing and plasma fibroblast tightening.

Why did you decide to open your own salon?

In the beginning, it was to give myself something to do around fostering and my own children. As the years have gone by and my client base has grown, my little business went from to strength to strength. I love all my clients who I have had the privilege of seeing through not only some of the happiest times of their lives - with weddings, having their children and seeing them achieve life’s dreams - but also through some of the darkest times of their lives - huge losses and illnesses. We have laughed and cried together. This has got to be by far the most humbling experience for me to share in all their lives.

What is your hair and beauty background?

I attended my local college where I completed Level 2 in beauty and Level 3 in massage. From here, I have completed many different massage courses such as hot stone, pregnancy massage, lomi lomi, deep tissue, natural face lift massage and bamboo massage. I have completed numerous lash extension courses, lash lifting, brow lamination, numerous waxing qualifications. I absolutely love helping clients with their skin health and any issues they may be experiencing. I’ve done lots of research around this and completed lots of qualifications related to advanced skin treatments.

Why this type of business?

They say you will never work a day in your life if you find something that you truly love - this is my love. I can help people feel better about themselves, whether that’s with a three-hour spa treatment to help them reset after a month from hell or a set of lashes for someone that suffers crippling anxiety. A pregnancy massage for a client that is eight months pregnant and needs relief from the aches and pains is wonderful. My clients leave feeling better - I can give them that. That’s why I do it - I love it.

Were you open before/during/after the Covid-19 pandemic? How did this affect your business?

Since the Covid-19 pandemic, things have changed drastically in our industry. Although when we first reopened everyone wanted to get out and visit, this soon subsided into unprecedented behaviours which meant I did not know if I was able to pay my rent from one month to the next. It really took its toll - even now things still have not gone back to pre-Covid. Then we had the cost-of-living crisis to deal with. All around me, friends were losing their businesses and salons were closing left, right and centre. I hung in there with grit and determination as I did want to lose what I had built. With the support of my clients, I have managed to keep going. It is still apparent that every year there are times that are so, so difficult. I had to get another job in October 2023 to try and help with finances while the business took another dip. I have been working seven days a week to ensure my business can keep going. Things have picked up through January and I have had to make some decisions to future proof the business.

What makes your business different to others in the same area/field? What sets your business apart from your competitors?

The Heavenly Touch was built around client experience - every single visit is special not just your first. You are not rushed out of the door. I always allow time in between each appointment to allow for a catch up with each client, allowing them to relax after their treatment to get the most from their experience. It is all about quality not quantity. I have built my little business up with love and if I can help a handful of clients feel better in my day that is a day well spent.

Why do loyal clients return to your business?

I get comments from clients all the time that they have never had a treatment like it. Clients understand and can feel how much I love my work.

What’s next? What do the next few months hold for you and your salon?

Since Covid, the business has really struggled at times which has led me to the decision to take a slightly different direction. We had a double garage on our property and have had this knocked down and we’ve built my own little salon. It has been super exciting to plan and it feels like it has been one thing after another at times, but we have had lots of friends and family helping and things are now starting to come together. We are finally seeing massive progress! I am planning to open in my new location in Callands in April. This will be the beginning of a new chapter for me and it has taken lots of hard work - the support of my clients has been amazing. I am so blessed to have made it this far when so many have not, and I will never take that for granted.
