AN animal charity has issued a desperate appeal for support after 70 Bengal cats were found in a horrific breeding situation.

Warrington Animal Welfare, an animal charity on Slutchers Lane, posted on Facebook about the incident, calling for donations of any kind to support them in dealing with the incident.Warrington Guardian:

The charity was called on Wednesday evening, February 28, after reports of a number of Bengal cats and kittens suffering in ‘dreadful conditions’ being removed from a property in Runcorn.

Of the 70 cats, 28 are adults, with the rest being kittens. According to Warrington Animal Welfare, nearly all the cats are suffering from ‘cat flu’.

The cats were reportedly ‘forced to give birth to pedigree kittens for financial gain’.

In pictures accompanying the post, the numerous cats are shown to be ill-treated and bedraggled – with one kitten shown to have a terrible eye condition.

Warrington Guardian:

Many of the cats are underweight and suffering from eye and stomach conditions.

The charity has desperately called for aid to help them support these cats in their recovery.

Warrington Animal Welfare has said they were already ‘full to bursting’ before this, so taking on 70 more cats is a mammoth undertaking.

Warrington Guardian:

Warrington Animal Welfare said: “They will all need neutering, vaccinating, and veterinary care to get them back to full health.

“We are appealing for dry kitten food, gastrointestinal cat food (both wet and dry) and fortiflora probiotic sachets.

“These can be purchased from our Amazon wish list or ordered from other retailers and delivered to our Centre.

“We need to purchase LOTS of eye drops to treat some poorly eyes, vaccinations for all the cats, and we need to raise funds to pay for them all to be neutered.

“If anyone can help us to raise money to provide a wonderful future for these 70 poor souls, we would be extremely grateful.”
