WARRINGTON’S ‘Wild Wings Birds of Prey’ rescue centre helped recover a helpless barn owl who ‘would not have survived for long’.

The rescue centre also acts as a conservation and education centre for birds of prey.

The centre, based in Risley, posted on Facebook to thank the team at Birchwood Golf Club for contacting them. They also aided the rescue centre in retrieving the barn owl.

They stated ‘the bird would not have survived for long’, because captive-bred barn owls have no natural instinct to hunt. The owl remains with the centre at the time of writing, with Wild Wings encouraging anyone missing a Barn Owl in Birchwood to contact them.

Wild Wings Birds of Prey posted:” Huge Thanks to Ryan and the Team from Birchwood Golf Club for calling us and then helping us retrieve this Barn Owl.
“Not the easiest recovery with lots of branches and twigs hindering access but a good result.

“The bird would not have survived for long, as Captive Bred Barn Owls have no natural instinct to hunt.

“So if you are missing a Barn Owl in the Birchwood Area of Warrington please contact us with your ring number. We will also need to see the Article 10 Certificate for the bird.”
