WARRINGTON Guardian readers have one more week to nominate a deserving staff member or team at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals for a special award.

The deadline for entries to the People’s Choice Award has been extended until Monday, March 4 – so there are a few more days left to get your nominations in.

It is the first time members of the public have been given the opportunity to get involved in the Trust’s annual Thank You Awards, which are set to take place at the Concorde Conference Centre, Manchester Airport, on Friday, May 10.

The People’s Choice Award will be presented to a person, team, ward or department that has made a positive difference to someone’s experience at Warrington and Halton Hospitals during the past 12 months.

Simon Constable, chief executive of Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We’ve had a fantastic response to our appeal for nominations so far, so I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to get in touch. We have really enjoyed reading all of your wonderful entries and it’s clear that it is going to make it an incredibly difficult task for our judging panel to decide on a shortlist.

“There is still time to submit an entry, so please do let us know about those who have gone over and above to help you, whether that has been during an inpatient stay, routine appointment, emergency visit or even while supporting another family member or friend in hospital. All nominations will be gratefully received and considered by our judging panel.”

The People’s Choice Award is one of 12 accolades to be presented during the event, which recognises the achievements of staff and teams at WHH, from innovations in clinical research, healthcare and technology, to improvements in patient safety standards and outcomes.

Almost 300 members of staff and invited guests attended last year’s ceremony, which is held at no cost to the NHS thanks in part to support from local businesses and corporate partners.

The closing date for entries is Monday 4 March.
