DO you remember this Warrington town centre shop?
Burgess' was based on Town Hill, off Horsemarket Street, was was much loved in the 1970s.
It sold toys, hardware, china and homewares.
It closed in the 1980s and was the building was later used by Lloyds TSB.
Burgess’s on Town Hill was a popular place for youngsters to see the toys that might be making an appearance under the Christmas tree.
It was described as “like Disneyland” and many residents used to go on the bus every year with grandparents to visit the grotto.
The walk up the stairs to the grotto was magical for many readers with Father Christmas waiting at the top.
