DO you remember this 1980s date in the Warrington calendar?
This week we have gone back in our archive from this celebration in the 1980s.
It shows dancing round the Maypole in the old fish market.
In the 80s, the Warrington Festival was at its height.
It featured traditional events such as Maypole dancing and a procession through the town centre.
It started in the 1970s and ran until the 1980s.
It began with the idea of helping the residents of the new town feeling part of the borough.
The parade was popular with crowds but there was concerns raised in some quarters that it would affect the popularity of Warrington Walking Day.
