THERE were seven-mile queues on the motorway in Warrington earlier this afternoon after a lorry burst into flames.

The incident happened on M62 eastbound between junction 12, Eccles, and junction 11, Birchwood.

Emergency services attended the scene including fire crews who used two hose reels to extinguish the blaze.

The lorry was on the hard shoulder.

The M62 westbound exit remains closed following the incident, but motorists are still able to exit to the M6 northbound.
